The AAPM Board recommendation that, by 2014, in order to be eligible for American Board of Radiology certification, candidates must complete a Commission on Accreditation of Medical Physics Educational Programs (CAMPEP) accredited residency program, has raised a number of concerns. It has even been suggested that this so-called 2014 initiative is not only unnecessary but also it constitutes a threat to the future of medical physics.
